This house is designed with Bewick’s and house wrens in mind, but you might also attract chickadees and titmice. It is made with 100% upcycled materials and has a 1-1/8” entrance hole—small enough to discourage sparrows and starlings. It has a clean-out hole in the back.
To attract chickadees, add a 1-inch layer of woodchips to the bottom of the house and place the birdhouse away from shrubbery, along the edge of a wooded area and near an open space. For wrens, place it in a semi-open space near shrubs or trees, it can also be hung under the eaves of a building or in a large tree. To attract titmice, set out pieces of hair, fur or thread, all 3 inches or less in length.
