Pre Civil War 2-piece Massachusetts Militia waist belt plate or buckle. It is ca. 1845-1860. It is listed on page 223 in American Military Belt Plates by O'Donnell & Campbell. It is a cast brass plate with an integral motif. It was previously in the Richard Hammond collection. It measures app. 53 mm x 87 mm. It is a nice example of a scarce buckle.
