This 1970’s era artisan made blouse is a classic wool blend plaid, in a cool toned color scheme with navy blue, hunter green, and accents of slate blue and ivory. It’s the same traditional check pattern also made by Woolrich Mills in the same era - 60s / 70s. It’s a button up style, with a pointed collar, flap pockets, and long sleeves with cuffs. Inside, there’s a nylon lining on the back side of the placket, and the inside of the collar, giving this a nice thermal effect, perfect for the chilly weather of fall and winter.
What makes this special: It’s a classic American workwear style, uncommonly found in women’s. It’s reminiscent of the same era styles seen by Pendleton and LL Bean in this era - outdoor and sportswear clothing.
Outfit idea: This piece is perfect for a mid century inspired rockabilly denim look. I have styled this with classic Levis 501s for photos, in a brown color way. This piece looks great with denim, corduroy, waxed khaki or any of the more rugged style fabrics. Just add your classic moc toe boots for a menswear inspired look with a tomboy aesthetic.

About the brand: This piece was sold out of the showroom of the factory, which is still in business today in Amana, Iowa - one of the last remaining heritage factories making blankets and scarves, established in 1857. It’s the site of the Hotel Millwright wedding venue now, known as the Amana Society, and they are on YouTube as AmanaShops.
Condition: Excellent preloved condition, with no flaws or damages to note. The original owner wrote their name on the label, adding to the charm. This garment is freshly washed and ready to wear.
