  • Biohome Ultimate is essentially the Mini Ultra with added trace elements to increase bacteria performance and has a porosity of approx. 50%. You can check out the extreme porosity of the Ultimate Filter Media yourself by touching just the tip of a piece media to the surface of some water. You’ll be amazed at how fast the water is drawn up the entire length.
     

  • Trace elements added include Iron and Manganese which act as a catalyst for bacteria living on and in the media which speeds up waste processing.

  • Biohome Ultimate is an efficient biological filter media and good mechanical filtration must be provided to insure the water passing through it does not contain any debris that might clog it and reduce efficiency. It allows both nitrifying (aerobic) bacteria for reduction in ammonia and nitrite and denitrifying (anaerobic) bacteria for reduction in nitrate to grow on and through its unique structure.

  • This media is sold by the half a kilogram. 0.5 kilogram of media is approximately equal to approx. 0.63 cubic litre.
     

  • For best nitrate reduction use approx. 1.5kg - 2kg per 100 litres of aquarium water to achieve full cycle filtration (reduction in nitrate).

  • The huge available and protected surface area allows Aerobic and Anaerobic Bacteria to thrive creating an excellent environment for the removal of not only Ammonia and Nitrite but also Nitrate!

  • Biohome offers the best possible environment for bacterial colonisation and is capable of supporting aerobic AND anaerobic bacteria in a wide variety of filters and varied flow rates.

  • TOP TIP!: Spend some time arranging the filter media either all stood upright or lay flat in your filter to increase the amount you can fit in by nearly 3 times as much! A one off tedious job, but one that offers huge results!
