Very rare book.
This small book is bound in beveled brown cloth covers with embossed decorations on the cover and gilt titles on the spine. It measures 5 ¼ x 8 inches and contains 163 pages.
Contents : The book begins with an Index of subjects; clearly the author was his own man and did things his way. The book is divided into three Parts and 29 chapters. The titles of the three Parts are as follows: Part I--The Raw Materials of Plant Food; Part II--The Available Sources of Supply; and Part III--Principles of Economic Application. I include a photo of the first page of the table of contents so that you can see the level of detail contained in the chapters. The book concludes with a series of vintage advertisements for farm fertilizers and the companies that distribute them.
Condition : In addition to being scarce, the other joy of this book is that it is in very good condition. As you probably know, books about farm topics often suffer as they wind up in the barn or farm office, subject to the elements and rough handling. This may be the reason why there are no other copies available of this book. The covers shows shelf wear, particularly (and typically) on the edges. The gilt titles on the spine are a bit worn but still legible. Inside the pages show some age-toning and water markings .
