Description ------ This candlestick is unusual & amazing - unsigned, hand blown, in solid, opaque, heavy glass, with slag-like, thin, orange-y red hints of marble-like swirls where the “turnings” meet, and on underside. Ground polished pontil scar on underside. Color is so MOD / POP …if a canary eats a mango…
The traditional “turned” candlestick form, but in glass, and with vibrant-yet-rich, unexpected yellow color - it is like nothing else I have found online. I’ve found a similar form in Fenton Art glass slag, but no exact match in form or color.
Alas, it is not signed. By enhancing one of my photos of the base, I was able to detect a rectangular label shadow, but was not able to discern what this label was originally, or if it is relevant to who may have made this.
Age - circa 1960s, beat guess.
I’ve taken the photos under two lighting conditions - natural, low room light and with a nearby lamp so you can see how changeable the color is.
- Solid blown (in sections, I think), not hollow anywhere
- Heavy for size - ~1.4 lbs on my scale, before packing
- ONLY ONE, not a pair
- 10.25” tall x 4.5” diameter at base
- Shown with a ruler and a faux egg, for scale
Condition
One (1) only, not a pair. Excellent. No damage. No chips, no cracks, no repairs. Light base edge wear appropriate to estimated age. Clean, odor-free, and from a non-smoking home. Please expand the description and photos.
