This bookmark is hand-made by Jean McLean. It measures 2 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches and is laminated for protection. It has a tassel. I am showing my gallery and myself so you will know I hand made this myself using my own photos and artwork.

Built in 1855, (also known as 'Bug Light') the lighthouse was used as a breakwater to the bustling harbor of Portland during the booming shipbuilding era during the World Wars.

Bug Light is a nickname for Portland Breakwater Light, a small and elegant lighthouse in South Portland, Maine. It was built in 1875 to mark the end of the breakwater that protected Portland Harbor. It was modeled on an ancient Greek monument and made of cast iron plates. It was decommissioned in 1943 after serving as a guide for shipbuilding activity during the World Wars. Bug Light Park, where the lighthouse is located, offers views of the harbor and the city, and is a popular place for picnicking, boating, kite flying and fishing.
