Antique Flow Blue LONSDALE Meat Plate 34cm x 28.5cm Smith & Ford . Condition is Used. Dispatched with eBay delivery – Packlink 2-3 days.

A beautiful meat dish in great condition with no chips or cracks There are a few manufacturing faults and minor defects compatible with it's age.

There are 3 unglazed spots on the rim which I assume are from the support tripod used during the glazing process. There some crazing to the central area (see pic).
There is a tiny chip and split in the glaze.
There are also some light cutlery marks.

There is no backstamp but I have more items from the service that are stamped so I have assumed they are the same manufacturer. I also found the following extract on www.blueandwhite.com for a similar item of the same size :

"Maker: Ford  Pattern:Lonsdale
Meat Dish or Platter c1895
The successive partnerships of Smith Ford & Jones, Smith & Ford and then Samuel Ford & Co of Lincoln Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire made Lonsdale. Most items have just Lonsdale or Made in England on the back, but examples with a Samuel Ford backstamp are recorded. Unmarked examples are possibly earlier....."

Please note the the plate is not included but shown to establish the pattern a d possible maker.
