Unique bi colored 16.55 CTS natural star Sapphire cabochon originating from Mozambique. This measures approximately 16.5 x 13.7 x x 6.5 mm and is cut into an oval shape.
The stone has a near perfect 6-ray star caused by asterism. This phenomenon causes a moving star of light to travel across the surface of the stone when exposed to a light source, either artificial or sunlight.
The coloring on the gem is highly interesting. This is classed as a black star Sapphire. The true color of these stones is more accurately described as a very dark grey /silver. There is also many blue stripes covering an entire section, making this a black and blue bi color Sapphire.
There is also a patch of semi translucent surface where light can partially pass through. In the pictures it may appear as a triangular section. This is more evident in the supplied video. This is not damage, the entire stone is highly polished and smooth.
As typical with this type of stone, there is some natural inclusions and variations as shown in pictures.
