Label - This is THE vintage ESCADA by Margaretha Ley - Made in West Germany (which helps us date the garment to pre-1991 when Germany was re-unified)
Fabric/Fiber Content - A unique blend of 35% mohair, 25% wool, 20% polyamide, and 20% acrylic - there are a number of different crochet/knit stitches used, some looser, some tighter, some extremely sheer, some actually layered on top of each other - some furry fibers protrude above the surface of the sweater, which is quite common for sweaters made with mohair
Colors - Dramatic contrast of colors to include bright blues, purples, golds, grays, burgundy, purples, greens, browns, and more
Simple on/off over the head design with abbreviated boatneck neck opening and slightly dropped shoulder seams
You can clearly see in the photos the areas where the knit is extremely sheer, primarily those are the sort of pink/burgundy areas - these are not flaws, it is just the way the garment was designed and adds to the uniqueness of it as you know that no two of these sweaters would ever have been exactly the same
Full length sleeves with tightly ribbed sleeve cuffs - ribbed around the bottom edges of the sweater as well, but not quite as tightly
Garment is labeled a size 34, which would be European sizing and also sizing for the era, which tends to run a bit smaller - please refer to the detailed measurements that were taken with the garment laid out flat
Around the bust 48 inches, around the waist 46 inches, around the ribbed bottom edges 28-42 inches, across the back, drop shoulder seam to drop shoulder seam, 22 inches, down the inside seam of sleeves 23 inches, length 27 1/2 inches
