When combined with a newer Vizio TV, it will pass true 5.1 surround sound from the TV to the sound bar via the optical connection. Exceptionally easy set-up, unpacking the box was the hardest part.

Cons: Quick to sleep and slow to wake-up. When the TV is paused for a few seconds, there is a little over a second delay for the audio to return once playback is resumed. When the TV is paused for a few minutes, the sound bar will go into sleep mode and there will be no audio when playback is resumed. Manipulating the volume control will wake it up after a few seconds.

Overall Review: I have a basic setup, a HTPC and Xbox 360 each connected via HDMI to a 60” E-series Vizio TV, and the TV to the sound bar via the optical connection. Combined with a Harmony remote and Ikea Hemnes furniture, I finally have an entertainment center my wife enjoys.
