For sale is a highly rare artist signed and dated water color silhouette portrait of a British military officer in full uniform with initial LV on his button. It is signed by a famous silhouette painter John Buncombe (1795-1830). Similar portraits by Buncombe can be found in past auctions on invaluable.com with a few representative examples shown in the last two photos. The artwork is framed under glass. The frame is very old, possibly original featuring bird eye maple veneer and square head nails.

The frame measures approximately 8” by 7”. Excellent condition. Clean and crisp image. One tiny ink stain above the soldier’s hat. Some veneer loss on the frame, mostly seen from the side view or at the corners. Please check all photos for detailed condition.

Overall, a rare-to-find SIGNED and DATED water color silhouette art in well preserved condition. It should not be passed by any serious collectors of antique silhouette/ mini portrait/ antique primitive artifacts.
