An unusual vintage hair ornament in gold tone metal lotus with rhinestones

DESCRIPTION:

 

Here is an unusual hair comb in gold tone metal which is encrusted with clear rhinestones. It has two long metal tines to secure it in the hair. It probably dates from the mid century and is done in the Hollywood Regency style.

 

The motif is that of a lotus flower. The Lotus is regarded in many different cultures, especially in eastern religions, as a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Its characteristics are a perfect analogy for the human condition: even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the Lotus produces the most beautiful flower.
