This Hp camera came out in the early 2000s and for it's day it was a good camera, at least if you believe the old reviews. 

It does have some reported problems over the years. Because the body of the camera is plastic, they did not hold up to a lot of use. Typically, as in this case, the battery compartment cover would fail, as would the SD card compartment covers.

This camera has a broken battery compartment cover. (see picture)

We offer this camera for parts, or as a possible Prop in your next early 2000 era epoch film project.

We put fresh batteries in the camera, and it powered up. We were able to set the current time day and year. 

Then the camera became non responsive after start up. Maybe a software issue ?

On start up it makes a little chime sound and the lens extends, then nothing ? 

From what I can see out online, this camera has a following. Maybe all it will take is a Photosmart 850 Guru to sort this one out.  If you are a collector, or if you have another Photosmart 850 you need parts for, maybe this camera is just what you need ?
