The origin of Imari yaki ware and Arita yaki ware can be traced back to 1616 during the Edo period (1603-1868).
They are porcelain ware produced in and around the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture.
The characteristics are the fine texture, the smooth feel, the transparent white porcelain, and the indigo and bright red colors of the dyed ware.
