Zenescopes Wonderland series is one of the most wondrous and captivating titles ever adapted. In a day where Marvel is spitting in the face of long time readers by making everything match the atrocious movies they put out, and where DC re-boots nearly every month, Zenescope offered a return to greatness with beautiful art, captivating stories, and amazing characters.
The stories are loosely based on characters from the "Alice in Wonderland" book- but in name only. The authors go on a free-for-all, taking each of the characters in all directions, leaving nothing sacred. The stories are a cross between "Twilight Zone" macabre morality tales, and "Fables" modern re-telling of fairy tales.
"Tales from Wonderland" series is pure id, loaded to the seams with over-the-top adolescent fantasy artwork, twisted tales, and cliche gore. The pages pop with the sheer joy of the subversive creators. In these comics, you really can judge a book by its cover, because the inside is just as raunchy as the lustrous, lascivious cover art. With grim fairy tales you get a Wonderland that's as dark and depraved as you would imagine it could get!
However, once you start reading it, you don't want to put it down. Yes, the subject matter is macabre and graphic in nature, but the story-telling is masterfully done and leaves you wanting more.
These are definitely NOT for the squeamish, nor are the really intended for young readers or adolescents due to the violence and subject material.
ABOUT THESE EDITIONS:There is a lot of confusion surrounding offerings in this series. MOST are the single episode editions, also labeled Volume X. Here, each book is an Omnibus of episodes previously printed as a single comic, hence the "collected" moniker. THESE ARE THE ONLY VOLUMES that collect the entire series and they are now out of print. There was a reprint of volume one with a different cover, but this one is the rarer and harder to find... Go ahead, try to find one... especially new!
Volume 1 collects 1-4 - 144pp
Volume 2 collects 5-9 - 168pp
Volume 3 collects 10-13 - 152pp.

Published by Zenoscope in 2010, these are now sadly out of print, and this set is the only complete set I have. Each Trade Paperback copy is brand new and unread. Each volume will be placed in a mylar bag of it's own for protection.

PLEASE remember this when you leave feedback scores as the choice is yours and not my fault if it takes a long time to get there! If you want it in a week or less, you are going to have to bite the bullet and pay for Priority Mail which will get it there in 2-3 working days, 99% of the time, but it is more expensive.
