Description

Tokoname ware  is pottery that has been produced for over a thousand years, mainly in Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture. 

It is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan. Tokoname ware is characterized by the use of iron-rich pottery clay from the Chita Peninsula.

This property is used to produce pottery with characteristic colors, colored red by iron.
