The Problem
Bed bugs (Cimex spp.), are an increasingly widespread problem, with accurate early detection and treatment being the most effective strategy to control them. Their nocturnal behaviour and ability to remain hidden for extended periods of time between host feeding make them difficult to detect. They are also highly transmissible between areas, posing an ongoing risk of introduction. When they are present, the optimum conditions near sleeping sites might lead to rapid population development.
