In this kit you will receive
  • Guampa Mate cup: A Guampa mate, made from a bull’s horn – very traditional in Paraguay for drinking Yerba Mate Tereré style! PLEASE NOTE the colour is random as no two items are the same. Guampas are natural items and the colours may vary so please check the example photos
  • Stainless steel bombilla – a straw with a filtered end specifically for drinking yerba mate. Classic spoon design with curved mouth piece for comfort of use.
  • Flask: This traditional Paraguayan flask is a cheerful blue and has a sturdy handle for serving, and another for transportation. The design of the flask is ideal for terere: a spout to accurately serve liquid into the recipient and a large opening designed for you to fill the flask with ice, fruit, herbs and water.

Please note, this kit does NOT come with yerba included.

Terere General Information

Terere is an important social drink mainly enjoyed in Paraguay, and also in Argentina and Uruguay. It is an infusion brewed traditionally by filling a guampa – a cup made from a bull’s horn – with the chopped stems and leaves of Ilex Paraguariensis, a holly native to South America. The liquid to infuse the drink is usually served absolutely ice cold, and can be flavoured with juices, fruits and herbs. In the hot subtropical climates of Paraguay, this drink is deliciously refreshing. It is normal to enjoy Terere with friends and family, each drinking a serving before passing it along. Having a large flask is ideal to store a large quantity of liquid, ice and flavours, and enjoy the Terere for many many rounds.

  • As guampas are a natural item, the item you receive may differ in size, shape and colour slightly from the photos. The colouring of the Guampa is natural and can be all or any mixture of black/brown/beige/ivory. If you have a specific requirement in colour, please contact us in advance of your purchase and we will do our best to accomodate your requirements.

Yerba Mate Info

Yerba Mate is a type of tea, made from dried leaves and stems from a Yerba Mate plant. It is much gentler than coffee on the stomach.

Yerba Mate Social Benefits

It is an important, common social practice in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, eastern Chile, southern Bolivia and Brazil. Drinkers in these countries usually share the mate, each taking turns to drink, with one person serving from a flask. Sharing Mate 'mateando' is a time sit and chat with friends and family.

Returns Policy

If you wish to cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible stating details of your order. You will be refunded in full, providing the order hasn't been shipped. If the order has been shipped, it can be returned for a full refund. For unwanted items, the period for returns is 28 days (except food, where the returns period is 7 days). If you have committed to buying an item, haven't paid for it and wish to cancel it, please contact us and we can arrange for the sale to be cancelled. This process requires you to formally accept a cancel item request.

If an item is faulty or damaged, we will replace the item. Please message us attaching the photo(s) and/or video(s) that clearly show the problem. If the damage is not possible to show on a photo or video, or you do not have access to email such files, please contact us to arrange returning the item for an replacement or refund.

For all types of returns/refunds, please quote your order number, address and item title to enable us to respond quickly to your issue. We work hard to resolve all issues and aim for 100% customer satisfaction.

Delivery

UK Delivery

Items are usually sent out the same day, or the next working day. Delivery is estimated at between 1-5 working days from purchase. Parcels may be sent by Royal Mail or by tracked courier depending on the size of your order. Please be sure to include a phone number with your details to allow a courier to contact you, just in case.

All of our parcels are too large for a letterbox, so please arrange for delivery to be made to an address where someone will be available to receive the parcel, or you have a pre-arranged safe place with your postman. If you think your parcel should have arrived, it is worth checking with your local sorting office to see if it waiting there for you.

Whilst most orders are delivered quickly, we sometimes experience delays that are beyond our control. For Royal Mail deliveries we ask that you allow 3 weeks for delivery, for courier deliveries we ask that you all 1 week before contacting us. Rest assured that any problems with delivery will be resolved by us after these time periods have elapsed.

International Delivery

We are happy to ship to nearly everywhere in the world. Shipping is most cost effective in bulk. We offer very competitive rates for parcels up to 25kg to most countries, please contact us for the current rates of your countries. Shipping for bulk orders usually take 1-2 weeks.

We also ship smaller parcels via Royal Mail standard service. The maximum size of these parcels is 2kg, so if your parcel is sent by Royal Mail and is over 2kg, it will be sent in separate parcels. Delivery is usually within 1-2 weeks, however sometimes there are delays in the post and customs. We ask that you allow 4 weeks for international delivery.
