For the Baseball Hobbyist... RON CEY, Los Angeles Dodgers 1970-1980 Los Angeles Dodgers postcard | No identification on back - likely Los Angeles Dodgers team-issued The Los Angeles Dodgers for many years produced some of the finest collectibles (including cards) for their large fan base. This card is among the early ones, having been issued in the 1970s. Card size is 3-1/2" by 5-3/8" allowing for mounting in standard 4-card postcard size collector pages. A fine quality collectible which could be added to your collection. About The Subject Ron Cey was one of the premier third basemen of his (or any) era. His Wins Above Replacement (WAR) of 53.8 is outstanding. Still, in his only year of consideration for the National Baseball Hall of Fame, he garnered a mere 1.9% and was out of consideration! A 6-time National League All-Star (1974 through 1979), Penguin slugged 316 home runs, 322 doubles and drove in 1139 runs. He twice led all National League third basemen in fielding percentage (1979 and 1984). Hopefully, the Committee on Veterans will take up where the Baseball Writers Association left off and will award Ron Cey the plaque at Cooperstown he earned on the ball field.
