 Vintage CHALKWARE FIGURE STATUE - PIETÀ

Vintage 1940s/50s, Portuguese polychrome chalkware statue with glass eyes of Pietà - Virgin Mary with Dead Jesus on a pedestal. Polychrome with very nice sculpture movement and golden trim decoration around the robes. Please note 2 holes on the back of the head for a halo which is missing and restoration to left hand. Please note the mark seen on the back of the head is of the cut that was made for the insertion of the glass eyes. These statues were made and a piece of the head was cut so that they could put the glass eyes. Afterwards the piece was glued and painted. 

Size: circa 10.43 inch = 265 mm high and 10.31 inch = 262 mm width at the pedestal //  Weight: circa 2,030Kg
