Leitz Leica M Hektor 13.5cm/135mm f/4.5 - VINTAGE 1955 TELEPHOTO PLOOT/VISOFLEX

You are viewing a Leitz Leica Hektor 13.5cm/135mm f.4.5 for Leica M mount vintage 1955. The head from this lens may be removed and used with the PLOOT or Visoflex with a suitable adapter (not included in this auction).

From ‘Leica Collector Guide’:

“Of modified Hektor design, with four elements, the middle two cemented, this lens was more expensive than the Elmar 135mm, f/4.5. With the advent of the PLOOT mirror reflex housing the lens head could be detached and used with suitable adapters. The lens was also made available in a short focusing mount for use only on the PLOOT and later, Visoflex...1954: Bayonet mount introduced for M3. This was non-rotating and in chrome with E39 filter thread.”

This lens is in worn cosmetic condition, please see photos.  It has many marks of wear on the lens barrel and the original covering for the lower barrel has dried and is separating from the metal. Mechanically, the lens is in full working order. Focus is smooth and firm, the full-stop click diaphragm moves normally adjusting the 14 blade aperture. The aperture will move passed the f/32 detent providing a minimum aperture of f/36. The removable lens head’s threads are in good working order. Optically, the glass carries marks on the front and rear elements. The rear element displays a number of areas where the coating appears to have flaked off. The lens mount is in good working order. This lens has a built-in tripod socket offering a 1/4x20 threaded receiver. The rear lens cap is in good condition.
