A 9 3/4" tall crown-top ACL PYRO soda that is also EMBOSSED.   What makes this bottle stand out is that on the back side it mentions that it contains the EXTRACT of KOLA NUTS and DE- COCAINE - IZED COCA LEAVES!  An old soda bottle from Columbia South Carolina.

  • Bottle embossed on both sides:  "DOUBLE COLA", inside of an embossed oval space.

  • Pyro glaze reads:  "A GREAT DRINK / DOUBLE / COLA / A MIGHTY FLAVOR".  Under this you can tell it originally had some wording but it is now mostly worn off.  Then on the back side it reads, "A REAL CARBONATED COLA BEVERAGE CONTAINING THE EXTRACTIVE MATTER OF KOLA NUTS AND COCA LEAVES (DECOCAINIZED) BLENDED WITH NATURAL FLAVORS / DOUBLE-COLA BOTTLE CO. / COLUMBIA, S. C."

  • Condition:  Bottle is in used condition.   It has wear, etching, stain, and haze, but NO cracks, chips, damage, etc.  PLEASE see picture for overall idea of condition.

  • Age:  An ABM crown top bottle, ca. mid 1900's.

This looks like a total Coca Cola competitor and like Coca Cola, it is a product from the southern U.S.A.  I think the fact that it states it is DECOCAINIZD goes to show that some of the earlier cola drinks, like Coca Cola and Double Cola, actually had  COCAINE in them.   An added bonus to this bottle is that it is both embossed and has pyro glaze lettering, check it out!
