Being offered on this auction is a
tall vase made by Rosenthal China,
Selb, Bavaria,
Germany. It
is of famous now German Op-Art line. This is so called kidney-shape vase
(this term is from Rosenthal 125 years anniversary brochure). Form number
is 2786/18. Famous Finish sculptor Tapio Wirkkala (1915-1985) designed this
form. Vase is decorated with expressive embossed Morning Glory flowers.
British artist Rosemunde Nairac created this decoration in the series of
her art decors reminiscent to designs of Hans-Theo Baumann. She worked for
Rosenthal since 1966 and designed various motifs for the different
Rosenthal brands. Her signature is engraved at one of the lower corners.
Vase is fully glazed. It is marked on the backside with standard Rosenthal
Studio Linie mark in green dating production of c. 1960s. There is also
incised mold number 2786/18 on the backside.
Vase measures about 4 3/8” x 2” and
stands 7” tall. Condition is immaculate with no cracks or chips found.
