I'm selling my TinyPi prototype to help fund my future projects. It's such a unique device, you will be hard pressed to find anything smaller. Please be aware this a prototype device, and not a finished product, so please dont expect it to be perfect (its not far off!). You can see some videos of it in action.
and then with retropie

The pictures show the device uncased and cased, you will receive it fully cased and ready to go. I will even throw in a memory card all set up and ready. The items used for scale in the photographs (lego, battery, keys, bananas, gameboy, tetris cartridge, gamegear) are NOT included. You will receive the TinyPi device, along with a signed copy of the schematic and PCB design. This will hopefully add value to the device, making it a great display item as well as a gaming device.
The system is based round a raspberry pi zero w. This means that you are able to install things like retropie in order to play stacks of retro games on the go. It also has built in WiFi and Bluetooth, so it is possible to add extra controllers etc
The screen is a 1.44 inch TFT, with a resolution of 128x128, which was chosen for both it's size and compatibility with pico-8 although it can run other games, it will just scale them. Within retropie, you can technically play any 8/16 bit games, although it's best to stick to the ones designed for portables due to the small size of the screen
The control of the device begins with a 5 way navigation switch. This gives you the usual up, down, left, right, and the center click is used as the 'start' button. There are 2 more action buttons on the front of the device, and finally, a 3 way switch on the top edge of the device, giving you 2 more action buttons by flicking it left or right, and 'select' is mapped to the center click. There is also a simple slide switch to let you turn the device off and on, although there is no safe shutdown mechanism, so you have to be sure to shut the device down correctly.
Everything is based around a custom PCB. This was custom designed my myself, and manufactured in the USA. The board is the exact same size as the raspberry pi zero, and helps keep things skinny.
Audio is provided by 2 piezoelectric transducers (like in a musical birthday card) and produces quiet sound. The pi does suffer with some static type noises in the audio, and while it doesn't detract from the usage of the device, it is something to consider.
Power is currently a 230mah battery, which gives about an hour of gameplay. There is also as changing/protection circuit to make sure the battery is safely managed. I will try and fit a larger battery if I can. The listing will be updated if I manage that.
The casing is 3d printed in a nice bright red colour, and is designed to be as small as possible. This does mean that some of the components do actually stick out past the casing slightly. The only downside of this, is that it is not as strong as being totally encased. The joystick suffers slightly with clearance issues, but I will get another stick printed which should solve this. The casing is held together with stainless steel screws, these screw directly into the plastic, and hold strong enough for this use, bit care must be taken not to over tighten them if taking the device apart. The device can be used without the casing to make it even smaller, however the battery and it's protection board is contained within the plastic casing, so this would need to be reconsidered if you want to run it naked.
Postage prices are dependant on the final sale price. If it goes for a large sum, then it will have more insurance.
Any questions feel free to ask. Thanks for looking and happy biding
