THE LITTLE RED HEN illustrated by ETHEL HAYS (SAALFIELD 1942).  Large 13" X 10" hardcover book with dust jacket.  Hays was a famous, prolific artist known for her illustrations of children's stories.  She did another version of this story published in 1938 with simpler, basic illustrations.  This version features completely new (gorgeous) full-size water color paintings in stunning detail.  Each of the paintings (on linen-like paper) is signed by Ethel at the bottom in water color. This larger book is hard-to-find and extremely hard to find in nice condition with the original dust jacket.   FINE (6.0) condition.

This is a sound, higher grade copy of this book with rich color and original luster with an excellent binding.  The dust jacket is in "very good-fine" condition and shows some wear at the edges with a few small tears.  But the dust jacket did it's job in protecting the inside volume in wonderful fashion.  Blunting and rubbing is found at the top and bottom of the spine and the edges show a bit of rubbing in a few places.  The interior pages are clean with no writing, coloring or other damage.
