At 5/16" (8 mm) thick, this cord is heftier and provides a higher tensile strength than regular 550 paracord, which comes in at 5/32" (3mm) thick. Para-Max provides a thicker and stronger alternative to your favorite 550 paracord, and soon will become your cord of choice. 

The 5/16" has a minimum tensile strength of 1,000 lbs. It is constructed with six 3-ply twisted inner cores (totaling 18). The cord is enclosed in a 32-strand interwoven nylon outer sheath.
