A 4" tall original light TURQUOISE AQUA/MARINE colored rectangular shaped antique 3 in 1 Oil Co. DRY FLY oil bottle. This is a very early hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it over 100 YEARS OLD. Along with the pictures of the bottle, we have enclosed a picture of an advertisement that we found in a 1906 Outdoor Life Magazine. The ad is NOT included in this sale, it is just used to show that 3 in 1 Oil truly was used as an oil for DRY FLIES, to keep them afloat 'without the hackles and wings sticking together' and that this truly IS a DRY FLY OIL bottle. Again, the ad is NOT for sale and is NOT part of this sale.
Here's a little history of the product that this bottle held: 3-IN-ONE-OIL was invented and first sold in 1894 in Asbury Park, New Jersey by George W. Cole. He advertised his invention's ability to clean, lubricate and protect. Old G. W. incorporated his company in 1899 and the firm became the 3-IN-ONE-Oil Company. As the ad states, the bottles came in 3 different sizes and also a small 'free sample' size. This bottle is the SMALLEST of the 3 bottles except for the sample, which is smaller. How unique to find a bottle that, 100 + years ago, held ... Dry Fly Oil, check it out!
