About Digests: Comic Digests are smaller in sized than normal comics. They are around the size of a Reader's Digest magazine. (Do you remember those?) They are usually around 4-3/4 inches wide and 6-1/2 inches tall. They usually have many more pages. They often have 100 or more pages. The covers are stiff, and the contents are full color. In most cases there are no ads, and sometimes you will find wrap-around covers. The most prolific producer of digests, by far has been Archie, who still issues them to this day. Gold Key and DC had a nice line of them for a while. Marvel and Harvey has also produced them, among other companies. The contents are normally reprints, shrunk down to a smaller size, but occasionally new stories have been presented. Other than the Archies, digests from the 1980s and back can be hard to find in any condition, and are especially tough to find in high grade, as they have to be carefully handled and read to avoid damage. Watch out! They can be very addictive. You might soon find yourself wanting to collect a full run of your favorite title. Make sure to check the Lee's Comics eBay store frequently for new additions.
