About the Moist-Sure Fleece Cover
The Moist-Sure Fleece Cover (Model 164) is the standard replacement cover for Thermophore petite 4" × 17" pads. The cotton and fleece blend absorbs humidity from the air between sessions, and when the pad heats up, it releases that moisture as therapeutic steam — no water needed. Over time, the fleece wears thin, shrinks from washing, or loses its ability to absorb moisture effectively, causing your Thermophore to produce dry heat instead of moist heat.
A replacement cover can restore the moist heat function instantly. Fits the MaxHEAT 177, Liberty 177, Liberty 077, and MaxHEAT Plus 377. Keep a spare on hand so you can wash one while using the other — the cover needs time to dry and reabsorb humidity after washing.

How the Cover Works
1
Allow the new cover to air out before first use. When you receive the new cover, allow it to sit in open air for a few hours so it can absorb ambient humidity before its first session.
2
Place the cover on your Thermophore pad. The cotton/fleece blend will continue to absorb humidity from the surrounding air. No water, spray bottles, or damp towels are needed.
3
Use your pad normally. When the pad heats up, the absorbed humidity is converted into therapeutic steam that penetrates deeper into muscles and joints than dry heat. The cover produces moist heat for about 20–30 minutes per session.
4
Set aside between sessions. After each session, set the covered pad in open air so the fleece can reabsorb humidity from the air before the next use. Do not store in a sealed bag or container.
5
Hand wash as needed. Wash in tepid water with mild soap and drip dry. Do not machine wash or machine dry. Allow to fully dry and reabsorb humidity before reusing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes does the Moist-Sure Fleece Cover come in?
This listing is for Model 164, which fits Thermophore petite 4" × 17" pads only: MaxHEAT 177, Liberty 177, Liberty 077, and MaxHEAT Plus 377. It does not fit large 14" × 27", medium 14" × 14", or extra-large 18" × 36" pads.
Why does the cover matter for moist heat?
The cover is the key component that allows the Thermophore to produce moist heat without adding water. The cotton and fleece blend absorbs moisture from the humidity in the surrounding air. When the pad heats up, it activates that moisture into therapeutic steam. Without a properly functioning cover, your Thermophore will only produce dry heat.
When should I replace my cover?
Replace the cover when it no longer produces adequate moist heat, when the fleece has worn thin, when it has shrunk from washing, or when it no longer fits the pad snugly. A well-maintained cover can last years, but the fleece does wear over time and loses its ability to absorb moisture effectively.
How do I care for the cover?
Hand wash in tepid water with mild soap and drip dry. Do not machine wash or machine dry, as this can cause shrinkage. Do not use fabric softener. Make sure the cover is fully dry and has had time to reabsorb humidity from the air before reusing.
What is the difference between the Moist-Sure Fleece Cover and the Moisture-Plus Cover?
Both produce automatic moist heat from ambient humidity. The Moisture-Plus Cover adds a pocket with an included washcloth that you can dampen and insert for supplemental moisture in dry climates like Arizona, Nevada, Utah, or New Mexico. The standard Moist-Sure Fleece Cover has no pocket and relies entirely on ambient humidity. If you live in a humid climate, the standard cover works perfectly. For dry climates, consider the Moisture-Plus Cover.
Will a new cover restore moist heat to my old Thermophore?
If your Thermophore still heats up properly but no longer produces moist heat, a new cover may help restore that moist heat function. However, if the pad itself has stopped heating or heats unevenly, the issue is with the heating element and a new cover will not resolve that.
Is it worth having a spare cover?
Yes. A spare cover means you can wash one while using the other. It also means you always have a backup if your primary cover wears out, and multiple users in a household can each have their own cover.
