Caspar Scheuren was a German painter, draughtsman and graphic artist born in 1810 at Aachen and died 1887 at  Düsseldorf . Caspar was a very productive landscape painter, watercolourist, illustrator, and graphic artist first taught by his father J. P. Scheuren (1774-1844).  By 1829 Scheuren had become a member of the Academy of Arts in Dusseldorf  that had been formed two years earlier. In 1835 he opened his own studio in Düsseldorf. He travelled extensively through Austria, Switzerland and Italy and was prolific until a serious illness in 1864 ended his art career. Most notable in his works were the cities, castles, churches and monastaries  along the river Rhine.
