Joshua Barney, (1759 - 1818) was a naval officer, born in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He served with distinction in the American Revolution (he was three times captured and imprisoned). His management of the flotilla in the Chesapeake Bay and his conduct at the battle of Bladensburg (1814) were outstanding events during the War of 1812.
