Guy N. Smith, the Great Scribbler, published his first novel in 1974 and racked up over a hundred titles before his death in 2020. This zine examines the first half of his 86 novels for adults, from Werewolf by Moonlight in 1974 to Cannibals in 1986. Most of them were horror, including his breakthrough 1976 bestseller, Night of the Crabs, but some were thrillers and Bamboo Guerillas was an outrageous war novel.
After Paperbacks from Hell brought his name to a fresh modern audience and Black Hill Books started to bring his books back into print, many for the first time in decades, it seems like the right time to look at every book he published. Hal C. F. Astell is a prolific book reviewer but he's collected Guy N. Smith for forty years and knew the author personally, so brought multiple perspectives to this zine, as a fan, a critic and a literary historian.
