Description
Original Civil War-era 1/9 plate embossed leather photograph case featuring a patriotic profile portrait of George Washington within a shield, surrounded by an American flag, liberty cap, eagle with laurel wreath, and foliate decoration. Dating to approximately 1855–1865, this case originally housed a ninth-plate daguerreotype, ambrotype, or tintype. The case is offered empty and retains its original hinge, brass hook-and-eye latch, and interior pad.
