Yaesu FRG 7700 Receiver FRA 7700 FF 5 Azden AS 006 YH 77 Vintage Radio Set

🖋️ Description

An unusually complete vintage Yaesu radio communications set centred around the Yaesu FRG-7700 communications receiver, accompanied by several matching and period accessories, original documentation, purchase paperwork and service history.

The principal unit is the Yaesu FRG-7700 Communications Receiver, a substantial Japanese-made general coverage receiver from the classic late 1970s–1980s era of analogue and early digital communications equipment. The receiver retains its characteristic dark metal cabinet, large main tuning control, digital frequency display, band selector, mode controls, timer functions and built-in loudspeaker.

The rear label identifies the unit as Yaesu Musen Co Ltd Made In Japan, with the photographed serial number visible on the rear panel. The set is configured for UK mains operation and retains its associated cables and connections.

Included with the receiver is a Yaesu FRA-7700, clearly marked on the front panel. This matching accessory features controls for gain, band selection and tuning, together with its telescopic aerial. The rear is marked Yaesu Musen Co Ltd Made In Japan and retains its original identification label.

Also included is the supplied Yaesu FF-5 accessory together with its connecting leads.

A separate Piezo Azden AS-006 external speaker is included. Its specification label identifies Japanese manufacture and gives a frequency response of 300 Hz–2500 Hz, 8 ohm impedance, nominal 2 W and maximum 6 W output.

The lot additionally includes Yaesu YH-77 headphones in their original Yaesu box, which is marked Made In Japan. The headphones and associated leads are retained inside their packaging.

One of the strongest features of this ensemble is the surviving documentation and ownership history. Included are period paperwork, warranty material, an FRG-7700 warranty registration card, service documentation and receipts relating to the equipment. The supplied information dates the original purchase paperwork to 1984, while later service paperwork is also present, giving the set considerably more historical context than an isolated receiver without records.

The documentation visible in the photographs includes material from Castle Electronics together with handwritten technical and service annotations. These surviving papers provide useful evidence of the equipment's continued ownership, maintenance and use.

This is therefore much more than a single vintage receiver: it is a coherent period collection of Yaesu communications equipment with accessories and associated archival material, making it particularly attractive to radio collectors, amateur radio enthusiasts and those interested in Japanese communications technology of the period.

Condition

Good vintage condition overall with age-related cosmetic wear, marks, surface scratches, dust and signs of previous use consistent with electronic equipment of this age.

The equipment has been powered and checked to the extent reasonably possible by a non-professional owner and appears to be in working condition. However, no comprehensive technical calibration, alignment or professional electronic test has been carried out, and therefore every function, frequency range, component and accessory cannot be guaranteed.

The receiver powers and has been tested as far as practically possible. Controls and accessories appear substantially complete as photographed. Cables, plugs and connectors show normal age and use.

The Yaesu YH-77 cardboard box has visible age-related wear, creasing, marks and edge damage. Documentation and receipts show expected age-related handling, folds and handwritten annotations.

Because this is vintage electronic equipment, servicing, adjustment or preventative maintenance may be required before prolonged regular use.

Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description and show exactly what is included in the lot.

✨ Poetic Impression

A dial turns slowly through the distant air
Signals once crossed continents to reach this room
Receipts and service notes preserve its working life
A complete fragment of the shortwave age

🎁 For Whom

Ideal for collectors of Yaesu equipment, vintage communications receivers, amateur radio equipment, shortwave radios, Japanese electronics, radio accessories and historically complete technical collections.

It would also appeal to enthusiasts seeking an FRG-7700 with period accessories and surviving paperwork rather than an isolated receiver.

🔮 How to Use

Suitable for a vintage radio collection, communications room display, amateur radio shack or restoration and operational use by an experienced enthusiast.

Because of the age of the electronics, professional inspection is advisable before sustained operation, particularly if the equipment is intended for regular rather than occasional use.

♾️ Authenticity & Provenance

The principal components carry their respective manufacturer and model markings as photographed.

The lot includes period documentation, warranty material, purchase receipts dating to 1984 and later service-related paperwork. These documents accompany the equipment and provide valuable historical context concerning its ownership and maintenance.
