Early 1905 postcard featuring the SS Kingston, a Canadian passenger side-wheel paddle steamer of the Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Company. Built in Toronto in 1901, the Kingston was only about four years old when this postcard was mailed. Contemporary records list her in the R&O fleet in 1905 under Captain Henry Esford.

The handsome period view shows the large twin-funnel steamer underway, with her side paddle wheel, multiple passenger decks and flags prominently displayed. The Kingston served Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River routes associated with Kingston, the Thousand Islands and other river communities.
