Salt-glazed stoneware ginger beer bottles were primarily made in Europe (largely in the UK) from the 1830s until about 1880.

Timeline and Evolution 1830s1850s: Specific stone bottles for ginger beer began production and widespread use, commonly salt-glazed and hand-thrown by local potters.  1850s to1870s: Production peaked using salt glazing, featuring stamped or incised lettering with the brewer's name and town. Around 1880: Salt glazing was largely phased out and replaced by smoother liquid or Bristol glazing, alongside two-tone and transfer-printed design
