Joan Fontaine received no major awards for her role in the 1947 film noir Ivy a movie she famously disliked, but she was a major award-winner in her career, notably winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for Suspicion (1941) and receiving nominations for Rebecca (1940) and This Above All (1942). Ivy, despite its high production and atmospheric quality, remains largely overlooked for awards, though Fontaine's performance as the manipulative Ivy Lexton is praised by critics as a strong, dark turn, even earning her a Photoplay Award for a different role that year
