Die United Traction Company wurde 1896 gegründet und gehörte zum großen Straßenbahnnetz von Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Sie kontrollierte unter anderem die North Side Traction Company und betrieb bzw. bündelte verschiedene Straßenbahnlinien in und um Pittsburgh.
Besonders schön ist die große Stahlstich-Vignette mit einer historischen Straßenbahn und einem repräsentativen Gebäude im Hintergrund. Solche Wertpapiere sind heute interessante Zeitdokumente aus der Frühzeit des elektrischen Nahverkehrs in den USA.

For sale is a decorative historic stock certificate of the United Traction Company of Pittsburgh for 100 shares.
The United Traction Company was founded in 1896 and formed part of the extensive street railway system of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It controlled, among others, the North Side Traction Company and was involved in operating and consolidating various streetcar lines in and around Pittsburgh.
A particularly attractive feature is the large engraved vignette showing a historic streetcar together with an impressive building in the background. Certificates of this type are fascinating documents from the early period of electric public transportation in the United States.
Special feature of this certificate: The stock certificate apparently was never issued to an individual shareholder. No owner’s name and no signatures have been entered, leaving the certificate in its original unissued condition.
