I am selling an autographed Delbert Thielke signed 4x6 photograph. 

Thielke joined the U.S. Navy immediately after graduating high school in 1942. 

He served as a 3rd Class Aviation Ordnanceman and storekeeper aboard the escort carrier USS Shipley Bay. His duties included serving as a plane captain and loading bombers with ammunition, rockets, and bombs. 

Thielke participated in support operations during the grueling Battle of Iwo Jima and assisted with subsequent cleanup efforts. 

Out of 1,500 men on his ship, Thielke was uniquely selected to stand on the upper deck of the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, to witness the official Japanese surrender
