Offered here is an original copy of A Taliesin Square-Paper No. 10, one of the scarce and highly collectible publications issued by Frank Lloyd Wright through the Taliesin Fellowship. The Taliesin Square-Papers were a series of irregularly published essays and manifestos distributed between 1941 and 1953, providing Wright with a platform to communicate his thoughts on architecture, democracy, education, society, and Organic Architecture.
The cover bears the well-known statement:
"A free fearless enlightened minority is the conscience of a democratic nation. When this is stifled, democracy is gone from the life of the nation."
Issue No. 10 focuses on Wright's views regarding democracy and architecture, including his belief that both must emerge organically and cannot be imposed externally. Wright considered architecture and democracy inseparable expressions of individual freedom and human creativity.
This particular example is especially desirable, as it was actually distributed from Taliesin West, Scottsdale, Arizona, and retains its original vintage mailing address stamp, adding an additional layer of historical authenticity and provenance.
