A "player's" Malmsteen model that combines sharpness with practical performance capabilities.
Based on an early model of the Fender USA Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster, this guitar captivates with the unique touch response provided by its scalloped fretboard and a distinctive presence derived from its '70s-style aesthetics.
A key feature of this instrument is its pickup configuration: DiMarzio DP117 (HS-3 series) pickups are installed in the neck and bridge positions. These deliver a smooth, sustained high-gain tone with suppressed noise, perfectly accommodating Yngwie's signature fluid lead playing. Additionally, an American Standard Stratocaster pickup is used in the middle position, ensuring practical versatility and ease of use for clean tones and "in-between" (quack) sounds.
It also features a TBX control, allowing for active adjustment of high-end clarity beyond standard tone control; this compensates for the slightly milder characteristics of the HS-3 pickups, enabling a sound with greater cut and definition.
Visual inspection suggests the middle pickup has been replaced—deviating from the original factory specs—but this modification results in an instrument that excels in playability and tonal balance from a player's perspective.
This guitar fuses the delicate control unique to a scalloped fretboard with a pickup configuration optimized for real-world performance.
There are several spots on the back of the neck where the finish has melted, and some discoloration resembling stains is visible on the pickguard.
Other signs of use are present, including scratches, dings, and tarnishing or rust on the hardware. There are no issues with the current playing condition.
