Dating & identification: Approximately 1940s. The photograph is captioned directly in the image “RIO DE JANEIRO – BOTAFOGO DE NOITE.” The reverse bears the WESSEL photographic paper mark. Comparable Rio postcards on Wessel paper are documented from this period.

Photographic process: Genuine glossy black-and-white real photo postcard (RPPC) produced on Wessel photographic postcard stock. Other surviving Rio de Janeiro postcards on Wessel stock are catalogued specifically as real-photo postcards.
