About this module

The engine control unit (ECU or ECM) manages fuel injection, ignition or injection timing, boost and emissions control, and stores the coding and immobiliser data that tie it to one particular car. That is why a second-hand ECU will not simply plug in and start: the data from your original has to be carried across to it.

• 2. Buy this listing and post your original module together with a donor of the same part number, well padded, to TF10 8BN.
• 3. On the bench I read your original flash and EEPROM data and save a backup before anything is written.
• 4. I read the donor, compare the two, then write your original data onto the donor so it becomes a copy of your module.
• 5. I read the donor back to verify the write and power it on the bench to confirm it communicates.
• 6. Both units come back to you by tracked post, with the copy ready to fit in place of the original.

What to send and how to check your label

Siemens, Continental and VDO units usually carry a 5WS4, 5WP4, 5WK or A2C number alongside the car maker part number. Photograph the whole label, including any barcode stickers, so the numbers can be matched character for character.

• Your original module, even if it has failed, provided it was communicating before the fault
• A donor module with exactly the same part number as your original
• A short note with your registration, the fault and your eBay user ID

Cloning terms

• Please send both the original and the donor
• The donor must carry the same part number as the original
• The original must have had communication before it failed
• Water-damaged or burnt units are quoted separately

What is not included

• This is a like-for-like job on your own module data only
• It does not remove, disable or bypass the immobiliser or any other security function
• It does not add or program keys
• Wiring, sensor or other vehicle-side faults are not part of a bench job

Turnaround and returns

Most jobs are done on the working day the modules arrive and posted back on the next working day by tracked delivery. If anything on the bench is not as expected I will message you before doing any work. Returns are accepted within 30 days in line with the returns policy on this listing, and payment is always through eBay.
