All frontispieces with old water mark to bottom corners , all fashion plates and text pages are very clean and in good order.

The plates in this volume showcase the expanding, dome-like skirts supported by heavy, tiered horsehair petticoats (flounced skirts)—just a few years before the invention of the steel cage crinoline in 1856 would completely balloon women's silhouettes. The intense, vivid hues on the plates are also notable, capturing the very end of the natural dye era just before William Perkin accidentally discovered mauveine (the first synthetic aniline dye) in 1856.
