Beautiful vintage men’s double-breasted navy blazer by Chester Barrie, London W.1, made expressly for Young Robbins.
A classic piece of vintage tailoring with a strong structured silhouette, wide peak lapels, a 6-button double-breasted front, gold-tone heraldic original crest buttons and traditional flap pockets.
The internal label reads:
“Chester Barrie London W.1 – Made Expressly for Young Robbins”
There is also an internal ACTWU union label, which helps place the jacket in the post-1976 period. Based on the label and styling, it is believed to date from approximately the late 1970s to 1980s.
Chester Barrie was a respected British tailoring house known for high-quality structured menswear and for producing garments for premium international retailers.
Approximate size: Men’s 42–44 Regular
Vintage sizing can vary, so please refer to the exact measurements below:
Shoulder to shoulder: 47 cm
Shoulder to cuff: 64 cm
Underarm to underarm / pit to pit: 56 cm
Collar to bottom hem / back length: 86 cm
The jacket has a notably long, elegant vintage cut compared with many modern blazers.
Condition
Very good vintage condition overall.
The exterior presents extremely well, with no obvious major flaws noted. The lining is also in very good condition.
Beneath each underarm there are matching areas where the lining has been intentionally left partly open/tacked, as part of the original tailoring construction to allow movement. These areas have been left untouched and are shown in the photos.
Please inspect all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
