1969 Rare ROBBIE BASHO Venus in Cancer Vinyl Record VG+ w Concert Program BTS 10

Offered here is a rare pressing of Venus in Cancer by the legendary Robbie Basho, issued on Blue Thumb Records.

After its release, Basho didn't approve of the image Blue Thumb Records put on the cover, so he bought all the LPs back from shops in the Berkeley area and pasted over the front covers himself - making this an unusual and precious find!

A highly regarded title in Basho’s catalog, this album is prized by collectors of rare folk, private-press spirit, and forward-thinking acoustic guitar work. Basho’s expansive style blends intricate fingerpicking, vocal passages, and mystical, globe-spanning influences into a deeply atmospheric record that has earned a lasting reputation among devotees of 1960s/early 1970s acoustic music. Become immersed in hypnotic tracks like “Eagle Sails the Blue Diamond Waters,” “Kowaka d’Amour,” and “Wine Song (Sweet Wine of Love).”

Front cover is concealed
by a Robbie Basho concert program. The previous owner pasted the relevant tour program over the original album artwork (a nude image). This pasting provides a piece of Basho history and concert experience unlike other copies of this Venus in Cancer record.

Both vinyl and cardboard sleeve are in VG+ condition. There is little to no damage to the record, with one visible surface scratch on side 2. Please see the posted images for the condition.
The cardboard sleeve shows some wear at the corners and a punched hole in the top-right corner. Exposed print remains vibrant, legible, and visible. Original insert included.
