Italian composer Alfonso Rega himself points out the nature of this music when he refers to it in the booklet sometimes as a symphony and sometimes as a symphonic poem. The seven movements are rarely programmatic in the sense of musically depicting events - even in the second movement, "Crash", but they're transparently clear in their depiction of emotions - primary colors of sorrow, love, anguish, and resignation. The music is also very simple -- much of the 54-minute work feels like an Ennio Morricone score, mixed with a little Puccini and a little church hymnody. I know there are some collectors who love finding a new symphonist, but given the ratio of ideas-to-minutes, I don't think he's going on my seek-out-more list. Heinrich Unterhofer conducts a 30 person orchestra and 16-voice chorus on this privately-issued CD.
Disc, booklet, and case are in excellent condition.
