Alessandro Catuogno La Grotta Azzurra Capri Signed Limited Edition 4/25 Photo

Alessandro Catuogno’s “La Grotta Azzurra” is a dramatic fine art photograph capturing the extraordinary blue light and underwater atmosphere of Capri’s legendary Blue Grotto. Created in Capri in 2009, the composition is photographed from the waterline, presenting luminous blue water and submerged rock formations below while the cave opening and a traditional boat emerge above. The unusual perspective gives the image remarkable depth and a striking sense of being immersed inside the grotto itself.

This photograph comes from an exceptionally small numbered edition of only 25 and is individually numbered 4/25. Along the lower margin, Catuogno has personally titled the work “La Grotta Azzurra,” dated it “Capri 2009,” numbered it 4/25, and signed the photograph in pencil. The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity states that the edition consists of 25 numbered works with an additional three artist proofs.

According to the original Certificate of Authenticity attached to the reverse, the image measures approximately 16 x 16 inches and was produced on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a 100% acid-free fine art paper, using Epson UltraChrome inks. The certificate also states that the work is signed, titled, and numbered by the artist on both the front and reverse, and that the original files for the limited edition were destroyed upon completion of the edition.

The photograph is professionally presented in a substantial white frame measuring approximately 25 x 25 inches with wide custom matting that complements the intense blue tones of the image. The reverse retains its professional FrameStore label from 11911 San Vicente Boulevard in Los Angeles, along with the original Certificate of Authenticity. A heavy-duty hanging wire is already installed for display.

Born and raised on Capri, Italian photographer Alessandro Catuogno has built his artistic work around an intimate understanding of the Mediterranean, particularly the relationship between light, water, and the island’s dramatic coastal environment. “La Grotta Azzurra” is a particularly striking example of that perspective, capturing one of Capri’s most famous landmarks from a viewpoint that emphasizes both the darkness of the cavern and the brilliant blue illumination for which the grotto is renowned.

The print itself and the internal matting are in pristine, museum-grade gallery condition. The outer frame is structurally completely solid and remains ready for display, with minor scuffs along the bottom corners from normal use and subsequent storage.

This is an authentic Alessandro Catuogno limited-edition fine art photograph of “La Grotta Azzurra,” Capri 2009, numbered 4 from an edition of only 25, personally signed by the artist and accompanied by its original Certificate of Authenticity.
