In 1859 threat of French invasion caused volunteer fever to sweep the country. Lancs was one of the most active counties and many units of riflemen were formed throughout. This book tells the story of these early days when the rabble were turned into 'real' soldiers. 

With B&W photos and illustrations throughout.
